Esthetic Resistance is a video installation that shows people who differ visually from the surrounding cultural norm. The piece compares this to protest movements, the subjects of the video have just chosen a visual form of protest. The piece features persons of different ages in Finland, Germany and France. The video follows the birth process of a deviant object or appearance step by step (e.g. The manga-girl Uni makes a cardboard hat in a grim Helsinki suburb, Clara from Hamburg makes a coat out of bubble wrap). The installation is displayed in a gallery, portraits of the video's main characters line the walls above the monitor. Voice over in French, texts in Finnish
